There is not only one way to check our size, you may use several tools and techniques :
Use a regular paper, put in down on the ground.
Place one of your feet on it, take a pen and draw our foot shape.
Do the same operation again with your other foot.
Once you get a cute little drawings of you feet, take a ruler and then measure our maximal length and width.
Now let’s do some Maths : the maximal length is equal to 2/3 of the footwear size, so here is the calculation you need to do, if for instance my maximal length is 25,9 cm
25,9 cm / 0,666 = 39
My European size is so a 39.
Nowadays the Brannock is still the tool that is the most used by professionals to determine the footwear size for adults. Indeed it is able to accurately measure feet length and width.
Once you know what is your shoe sizing, here comes your favorite moment: shoe selection ! This step is definitely capital, you have so many criteria to consider, not only the aesthetics. Indeed what is the point of having a nice pair of shoes if you are not comfortable wearing them ?
When selecting your future pair of shoes, you may take into account your morphology. People with wide feet should avoid pointed shoes and favor special wide shoes as Church’s H width, or wide calf boots as Gabor ones.
Depending on their origin footwear brands may use various sizing system: French, British, Italian, American, that are all very different. For a greater understanding by our customers, we always indicate the size used by the brand. However at the bottom of each product page, you would find a conversion chart with different sizing system. For instance Clarks would use a size 5 to define a size 38 for European system.
Sometimes it’s even harder to understand brands influence, indeed italian shoemakers are famous for shoe sizing, which is particularly large ; that why we usually advise our customers to order a half-size down than their regular size for italian shoes.
